Q. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ROTATE MY TIRES?
A. Your tires should be rotated every other oil change, or every 6000 miles. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear.
Check Engine Light:
Q. WILL IT HURT MY ENGINE IF I DRIVE MY CAR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON?
A. The check engine light can come on for something as simple as a loose gas cap. So check that first and see if the light resets after a while. The problem with the light is that it gives you no idea of the seriousness of the situation. However, you do need to get your vehicle checked out as soon as possible. You may see a decrease in performance.
3000 MILE OIL CHANGES?
Q. Do we really need to change our engine’s oil every 3,000 miles? After all, the owner’s manual and the car salesman said we can change the oil every 10,000 miles.
A. Here’s how we approach this at Eagle Automotive: The manufacturer is in business to sell cars. Without a doubt, they want to produce reliable vehicles and maintain a great reputation to the buying public. However, lack of maintenance will kill any machine. Mechanics are in business to keep you on the road and avoid a mechanical breakdown. So let’s use the 3,000 miles as a gauge, and try not to go beyond 4,500 miles on most cars. I’ve seen the difference inside engines that are serviced more often, and those that are not. It’s the difference between being on the side of the road and driving trouble-free!
